Velenosi
Rich red fruits, balanced acidity, with hints of spice and a smooth finish.
This Rosso Piceno DOC Superiore represents the pinnacle of winemaking from the Marche region of Italy. The Velenosi winery has masterfully blended Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes to create this elegant and powerful wine.
Winemaking
The grapes for Solestà are carefully hand-harvested and undergo rigorous selection. After fermentation, the wine ages in a combination of French oak barrels and large wooden casks for at least 12 months, followed by additional bottle aging before release. This patient process allows the wine to develop its complex character while maintaining the fresh fruit characteristics of the indigenous varieties.
Taste Profile
Solestà presents an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. The nose offers a complex bouquet of ripe red fruits, particularly cherries and plums, complemented by subtle spice notes and hints of vanilla from oak aging.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and well-structured, showing excellent balance between fruit and tannins. The characteristic acidity of Sangiovese provides freshness, while Montepulciano adds depth and richness to the blend. The finish is long and smooth, with persistent fruit notes.
Territory
The Rosso Piceno DOC region lies in the Marche region along Italy's Adriatic coast. The vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate created by the combination of maritime influence and the protection of the Apennine Mountains. The soil composition, rich in minerals and clay, contributes to the wine's structure and complexity.
